URC messed up project

Summary

After not opening my project for a while, I have synced a fresh copy. The Verse files seem to have been corrupted by URC, issues:

  • Some files that have previously been moved/deleted have re-appeared.
  • One file seems to have been corrupted and is very out of date, the file is accompanied by a “.verse.~urctemp” version of the file.

I’m not sure if data has been lost, or if URC just isn’t syncing properly. This is quite a large project, so can’t be 100% certain what has been lost/corrupted.

HI @flyingpigbaby I’m Garren from the URC team. I’m sorry to hear this is happening and we’ll be happy to try to help you get back in the right state.

Could you confirm the ID of the project? It can be found most easily in the URL when viewing the project in the Creator Portal (create.fortnite.com)

@flyingpigbaby Never mind on the ID, we were able to look it up.

Can you confirm whether you have OneDrive turned on for the directory where your Fortnite Projects folder is located?

This is generally the most common culprit for issues where deleted files reappear, as it essentially means you have two different versioning systems (URC & OneDrive) competing over a source of truth.

Hi @gxg_work thanks for the replies.

I don’t have Onedrive syncing those folders. I completely deleted the project and synced it, and 2 copies of the same file existed (one of them being previously deleted).

Thanks for the quick reply @flyingpigbaby - we’re investigating what may have caused this and will be in touch soon. Then, if you’re still blocked we can find a time to jump on a call and help you get it sorted out.

Sounds good, thank you!

Hi @flyingpigbaby we investigated and believe that we identified the issue. Could you please try the following steps:

  • Close UEFN/VSCode/Fortnite
  • zip the current copy that you have locally (the one that isnt working for you) and move it to your desktop for safe keeping
  • delete the unzipped one from your /FortniteProjects folder
  • Re-open UEFN and sync a fresh copy of the project

After that, let us know if you’re unblocked, and if not we’ll find a time for a call.
