Updating geometry after using the "Convert to Skeletal Mesh" function in UE 5.4. There seems to be no way to update with imported geometry once it has been converted in this way?

I’ve been enjoying all the upgrades in UE 5.4, and being able to create the skeleton using the skeletal mesh editor tools and paint the weights is amazing! I started with a static mesh, used the “convert to skeletal mesh” command, and was off to the races making my character rig. Only after setting up my first character did I realize that if I made any updates to the character geometry (outside of UE), there doesn’t seem to be a way to update my skeletal mesh version in UE anymore. The reimport functions in the menu are grayed out, and when in the skeletal mesh all of the reimport options pop up an error.

I assume this is because in converting the mesh we have lost the reference to the original file, so I tried manually connecting the source link to the original FBX, and that breaks the rig.

Am I missing something here? It doesn’t seem very production friendly if the mesh can’t be updated once the skeletal mesh conversion is made.
