Hi everyone! I’d like to share an update on some changes our buyers and publishers may notice on Fab.
Last year Epic began implementing changes on its marketplaces to comply with the Digital Services Act (DSA), a European Union consumer protection law that requires online marketplaces to disclose information about certain sellers and products. We’re nearing the compliance deadline and wanted to provide some information on changes that some of you will see on Fab soon.
The DSA requires anyone who sells on online marketplaces like Fab to identify themselves as either a Trader or a Non-Trader and disclose certain information. If they do not complete this self-identification process, they will not be able to distribute their products to customers in the European Union under Fab’s Standard License or Creative Common Attribution (CC BY) License.
Starting in February 2025, if you’re a Fab buyer located in the European Union, you may not be able to purchase or acquire products from sellers who have not completed the self-identification process. You will still be able to view all product pages (for instance, via a direct link), but you may not have the option to acquire certain products. Instead, you will see a note saying that a product is not available in your region.
If you are shopping from outside the EU, your experience on Fab will not be affected by these DSA-related changes and you will continue to have access to all available products.
Regardless of where you’re located, you will continue to have access to any products that you have already purchased or claimed for free.
