Hi guys!
I am using Unreal Engine 5.70.
I am having problems with my MediaPlayer Materials. They always start as solid black.
See image 1 for a picture of my character and the solid black material.See image 2 for how my material is set up in the material editor.
WHat I am attempting to do is, from within my characters blueprint, I am trying to change a materal to a different material and play an animation on it, obviously while the game is playing.
Check image 3 for my character blueprint that I am trying to do this with.
The animation source that I am attempting to play is an image sequence.
Here’s the thing. I believe I have everything set up correctly. I believe that for some reason, the viewport is just not correctly updating in some way.
I say this because while the game is playing, I can eject from the scene, open the Media Player that is used for that animation and double click the animation and that makes the view port update
and play the image sequence correctly. Check image 4.
Also, I can play the scene and the material will be black. But if I stop the scene and play it again then it shouws correctly. Sometimes it takes 3 times.
I have also occasionally seen that if the scene plays and I eject and then click on any folder in the content browser, the viewport will then sometimes update.
This leads me to believe that there is just some setting or settings in my project that I need to configure correctly like some form of buffering.
I saw suggestions that ebabling Realtime Viewport can help so I tried that and the issue still happens.
I have also tried packaging the game, the issue still happens on packaged builds as well.
I have also tried updating to 5.8.4 and the issue still happens there as well.
I have tried a whole lot at this point with no success so I am now posting here to see if anyone else has dealt with this.
My specs:
M4 Base Model Mac Mini.
MacOS 27.2
I sincerely believe that this is just a setting that I am not aware of that I need to configure. Has anyone elese dealt with this?
Thank you in adavance. And please let me know if there is other information that I should provide to help with this.
