So, I have a really specific problem. I’m working with Unreal Engine 5.3 and Metahuman to create a VR project (target HMD is the HTC Vive Pro 2). After much trial and error, I now have a running project where I can spawn two metahumans at the same time with body and facial animations. However, as soon as there are two metahumans, I have a really weird hair issue. If I look directly at one metahuman, everything is fine, but as soon as I look away and the metahuman comes to the edge of the field of view, its hair randomly spawns/projects/detaches (?) and floats somewhere around the head of the second metahuman in the scene. This only happens for the right eye of the VR headset.
I’ve tried changing every rendering setting, but nothing solves the problem. I have also reproduced this problem in an otherwise empty FP and VR template. Adjusting the groom settings doesn’t help; I can only prevent this by changing all grooms to cards (but that’s really a last resort, since not all metahuman grooms are available as cards and most don’t look that good in VR).
Anyone have any ideas what could be going on here? I’m grateful for any help!
