Unreal Engine 5 on m1 MacBook Air

Hello,

Before starting this article, Sorry for that my poor English.

I tested UE5 in PC Notebook(i7 CPU, RTX 2060, 32GB Ram) and m1 MacBook Air…

and found UE5 for m1 Mac is stable than 4.26 ver. and faster than previous version.

when testing PC Notebook and m1 MacBook Air with the same UE project compiling shaders, I checked m1 Mac book air little faster than PC Notebook(about 15%?).
I think it is because of even UE5 for Mac version is for Intel version, m1 Mac CPU is faster than my PC Notebook

There is one bug that I found on UE5 for Mac is after light building textures turn red or other color… The reason of this bug is skylight. you should skylight to movable or Static, instead of Stationary… then bug is gone…

I hope UE5 support Arm Mac native…

then the performance and stability shall be better I think…

and Last tip for m1 Macbook air user, when you use UE4, UE5, then m1 MacBook Air goes into throttling, but if you use notebook cradle with cooling fan, then you can use UE5, UE4 in m1 MacBook Air without throttling. The CPU temperature will not over 95 degree(celsius) and don’t enter into throttling when using cradle with cooling fan…

Thanks for unreal team.

Hello, I would like to know if there was any progress in the use of M1 for unreal? I’m trying to use and learn more for Archiviz, but it has many limitations in relation to light and shadow and especially in the reflections and vegetation that leave something to be desired, due to the lack of support for Raytracing and also the fact that it doesn’t work with the Lightmass CPU, and I think that too it is not possible to use GPULightmass as it is based on CUDA, but if you want and know how to help I would love to share and exchange UE5.1 knowledge on MacOS

Opa!
