Unreal Engine 5.1 Released

No idea.

I just reported it.
Here is the results I am getting between versions

Why was Set Master Pose Component renamed to Set Leader Pose Component? This seems to serve absolutely no function other than making it harder to find, and it was not updated in the documentation.

I suspect it was because of some nonsense about master/slave terminology being ā€˜offensiveā€™. Hopefully Iā€™m wrongā€¦

Whatever, if thatā€™s the reason then go for it but put it in the changelist and update the documentation.

Having similar issues

Hello! Sorry for bothering, i know itā€™s been a while but i wonder if you ever figured how to fix that error ? Cause i have exactly the same messages and also using Windows 7 x64bit

I do have to agree that there is something causing an fps drop after converting a UE5.03 to UE5.1 project. While this is expectedā€¦as there are many changes in the UE5.1 engine compared to the latterā€¦the amount I am experiencing is massive. My relatively large 16kx16k project in UE5.03 runs very smoothly averaging 120fps in 4k. In UE5.1 with same settingsā€¦Iā€™m averaging about 70fps in 4k. I am suspecting that certain assets that are being used are causing the massive dropā€¦but do the the amount of time it would take to try to track this down would simply be to long. If anything, I will most likely rebuild project from the ground up in UE5.1ā€¦as that will most likely be the quicker solution.

For those interested, I have disabled the new features in UE5.1 that inherently cause the performance problems but those donā€™t seem to be the problem. Converting projects usually has problems that need to be addressed and corrected with lots of troubleshooting involved. But this much fps drop is a bit out of the ordinary. For now, Iā€™m staying with UE5.03

It might be due to the switch to SM6

Have you tried deleting ā€˜intermediateā€™ folder? More often that not, it solves the weird problems when doing major upgradeā€¦

Well, this is unfortunately a release i need to skip due a few things running very wrongā€¦ I have tried to migrate my 5.0.3 project to UE 5.1 just to see that it is near unusable due to crazy RAM and VRAM consumption (40 - 50 GB instead of 5 GB of RAM, and completely eating up all of my 20 GB of VRAM just to go freeze the whole system) and hitches in the Editor. I have also got some weird sizes in the world partition window when it comes to my maps (1000km x 1000km instead of 8km x 8km)

And for everybody asking this:
Yes i have deleted the whole DDC,
deleted the intermediate folder,
started a fresh migration into a clean project
recompiled all shaders by setting the rendering to Forward rendering and back
Turned off Lumen
Switched to DX 11 and SM 5

None of these have helped so far!

Did you try to copy the Content folder into a fresh 5.1 project? This might break some stuff but perhaps this can work? IF this works you can copy in a next step the cfg files and see how those do.

HLOD wasnā€™t working after upgrading my 5.03 project to 5.1 but creation and content copy to a fresh 5.1, worked

Yes i also copied the content folder, which unfortunately also did not help.

A thing which comes to my mind is to delete the HLODā€™s in 5.0.3 and then to start the migration againā€¦

Another thought is my suspicion that the World Partition has a severe bug which causes this, at least it sounds kind of logical to me that all resources of my machine are used when the World it tries to load is 1000km x 1000km

Hey did you ever find a fix to this problem, I am getting the same thing over and over and over.

Okay, so I tried a few thingsā€¦for 5.1

-deleted the Intermediate folderā€¦no change

-set sm5 instead of sm6ā€¦no change

-since I am developing for VRā€¦I tried running only on flatscreen(monitor) in 4kā€¦this proved to be positive. Iā€™m getting full/same fps as my project running in 5.03. As soon as I try VR, the fps tanks againā€¦making it unplayable. So, there is something happening in my project or with 5.1 that causes VR to not perform properly. Since VR is my focusā€¦Iā€™m back to 5.03 again until VR is more seasoned with the new engine features. I donā€™t have the time to try to track this downā€¦but since Sony is going full force into VR with UE5ā€¦any VR issues with UE5 should eventually be ironed outā€¦hopefully!!

-the other thing I noticedā€¦is like others have mentionedā€¦my memory use in 5.1 doubled from about 20gigs average to over 40gigs average. Not a problem as I have 64gigs but Iā€™m guessing that Nanite is the reason for the increase in memory usageā€¦even though Iā€™m not using Nanite presently. I tried both enabling and disabling Naniteā€¦but not much difference in performance between.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Heya, unfortunately i did never find a fix for my problemsā€¦ The HLODā€™s are not the culprit.

Just wondering - I havenā€™t seen 5.1.1 hotfix mentioned since this really, any idea when this is on the horizon?

Hi, the Car Configurator sample project has UE 5.1 as Supported Engine Version, but when tried to Create Project, it gives out this error:
Download Request Failed

This content requires a supported Engine version to be installed.

Error Code: IV-CMD-DREQ

Any idea how to fix this?

Yeah. When will the hotfix be released?
