Since this contest was conceived, if it was a human, it would already have been born and recognising faces and know how to grab and manipulate objects.

Almost a month a way from it being a full year since this contest was hosted… :sob: and still no one has received prizes. I’m just going to go ahead and say what everyone who has followed this forum thus far in hopes of receiving their long awaited prize is thinking but why does unreal engine even run contests if this is the outcome? :man_facepalming: Such an incredible waste of everyone’s time.

Like I know we shouldn’t really care much, we all made something cool and leveled up our skills and all that. But the whole abandonment has left enough of a bad taste that I’m reluctant to even do more things in the software. I know that’s ridiculous but there it is. On pwnisher’s February challenge I went back to Maya partly because of this. It’s silly, but it does relate to brand confidence. Why put effort into learning UE if there’s a record of unexplained abandonment. A random contest is of course less priority than the entire software, we all totally get that, but it’s just enough to make everyone who participated in this contest have a bad taste in the mouth when starting up the software going forwards. In an industry with an abundance of options, needlessly ignoring brand damage will have worse long term impacts.

It’s just frustrating because we are left to wait indefinitely without any sort of clarification as to what is yet again taking so long and I have cc’d the staff in several times to attempt to get a response but they continue to ignore me. I have seen they are active in other topics within the past week/ month and have been able to provide a response for other people. At this point I am not sure if we are being actively ignored or if they just plan to keep us waiting until they can make up some excuse as to why this has taken almost a full year… and no one cares to give us any sort of clarification much less even respond.

There are so many layers of unprofessionalism throughout this process that makes me scared for the wellbeing of the company which I used to have extremely high expectations for. In no way is this acceptable from as reputable and well known of a company when I have seen YouTube streamer’s consistently successfully run contests through their Discord with far more entries than this contest had, and still deliver the results and prizes in only a few short months. The amount of time this has taken is inexcusable and has fallen so far short of my expectations I can’t even find the words to describe it. Regardless of the internal changes that may have caused communication issues within the company the few months after everyone submitted, I feel as though we should receive some form of compensation for having to go through such a poorly managed experience, and overall, still are entitled to a response if we are not going to receive prizes that we were communicated we would receive months ago. Anyways this whole process is just like chasing a carrot on a stick and is honestly exhausting and at this point I could care less to even entertain this anymore because the people running this obviously haven’t cared.

Just gonna “at” a few more staff in case any new bodies might have some pull to let higher ups know this is still pending. I know none of you are directly in charge of any of this, the person who WAS in charge doesn’t work at epic anymore, but hopefully you know someone at epic who might be roughly in charge of “brand awareness” or “marketing” or “community outreach” or some such title like that and might be interested in wrapping this project up?

I am deeply saddened by the outcome of this event. I feel frustrated and disappointed, and I am at a loss for what to do.

I finally won a challenge (participated in 2022 Epic Megajam and BetterLightThanEver Challenge). I really wanted to win, but now that I have, I regret participating. The happiness I got from winning is gone, and this is makiing me feel like if I was betrayed by my own family. This winning was truly personal to me. I didnt expect it to become this, otherwise i would have never participated, but now I know. I will carry this as a scar and will still insist in a response to this till the end of time.

Hello everyone! Here’s where we’re at with the Challenge prizing.

We’re nearly through the Prize Acceptance Form reviews. Once cleared, they’ll be sent to all winners who have replied to our DMs, which will allow us to finalize the prizes themselves. I don’t have a specific timeline for when they’ll be sent out, but we’re working to ensure that this is resolved shortly.

Additionally, I’d like to apologize on behalf of the community team for not communicating more frequently, leaving you in the dark to wonder about the status of your well-earned prizes. It’s important to all of us that you feel heard, and right now, we ask for a little more patience while we finish tying up the loose strings.
