New issue with transparent materials in Unreal 5.7.
For example, I just took the empty template, added a plane with a transparent material (like water). Now, depending on the light and when moving the camera, a visible line appears as a seam.
I don’t have this problem in 5.6. Any idea how to fix it, or do we have to wait for an upcoming patch?
Hey there @Frakatchoo! Is it only at a distance that the artifact begins? It looks like it begins once you’re far enough away. This makes me believe it could be related to some form of performance measure. That said, can you isolate the water to a scene with no fog and just basic lighting to see if the translucency has the same effect?
This issue indeed depends on the camera’s position, neither too close nor too far, also the scene light (more visible on sunset). I tested it with the ‘empty’ template, and it happens with any transparent material (like water), so it’s something anyone can quickly reproduce. The problem is still present in 5.7.2. I’ll check how it behaves in 5.7.3, and when I get the chance I’ll run more tests to better identify where the issue is actually coming from.
