Unable to kill UnrealBuildTool, UBT no longer propagates SIGINT

When UBT is launched through one of the standard wrapper scripts, Ctrl-C no longer cancels the build. The `dotnet UnrealBuildTool.dll` process and its compile actions keep running to completion in the background. UBT prints none of its usual cancellation output, and further Ctrl-C presses have no effect — the process tree has to be killed manually.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Linux, interactive terminal, source build of 5.8.1.

2. `Engine/Build/BatchFiles/RunUBT.sh UnrealEditor Linux Development`

3. Wait for compilation to start, press Ctrl-C.

4. UBT seems to ignore the command. `ps -ef | grep UnrealBuildTool` shows UBT still running.

Hi Jackson,

I am observing the same issue. Investigating with the dev team as this is likely related to the parallel UBA (Unreal Build Accelerator) Executor. One workaround is to run:

killall -9 dotnetfrom a separate Terminal window.

Best regards.

Thank you, apologies for the late reply. Yes, we’ve found that killing dotnet will stop it, but it would be beneficial to be able to send SIGINT to the process the standard way.

I saw this was marked as resolved, should we expect to see the fix in an upcoming patch release?

Hi Jackson,

Here’s a link to the public issue related to this case: https://issues.unrealengine.com/issue/UE\-393319 . It doesn’t appear to be resolved as of yet and I do not have an ETA as of yet.

Best regards.
