I am experiencing an issue when trying to install Unreal Engine 5.7 through the Epic Games Launcher.
Every time I attempt to start the installation, I receive the following message:
Installation Error Failed to retrieve installation information. Please try again later. Error Code: MD-DL-0
Here is what I have already tried:
Restarted my PC and router.
Checked my internet connection (stable, no VPN or proxy).
Launched Epic Games Launcher as Administrator.
Performed a full reinstall of the Launcher.
Deleted the following folders:
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\EpicGamesLauncher
Removed registry keys related to previous Unreal Engine installations.
Tried installing to a different drive and verified that there is enough free space.
Unfortunately, the issue persists and I am unable to install Unreal Engine 5.7.
I would appreciate your assistance in diagnosing this problem.
If you need any log files, please let me know which ones to provide and where to find them, and I will attach them in my reply.
I have the exact same problem. I tried literally everything.
Cmd commands,
Deleted-regenerated launcher installation folders
Reinstalled the launcher
Reset-ed the router
deleted redundant registry keys
Reset the network settings of my PC
The list goes on and on.
The problem persists and I can’t download any Unreal version from the launcher right now.
Same here - I can download UE5.6 and 5.7, but not 4.27 or anything below it. My friend had the same error and couldn’t download UE4 or UE5 either. But today, he tried downloading UE5.6 again and it worked.
I’m not the only one: a friend of mine from another country is also getting the same error when trying to download UE4.27 or older versions. I’ve spent hours trying, and it’s been three days now with no luck downloading UE4.
What’s funny is that some Fortnite players are getting the same “MD-DL-0” error. I did some research and found that the issue might be related to Epic Games’ manifest servers. I’m not completely sure… but it does seem like a global issue happening at random.
I have the same problem , i cannot install any unreal engine version
Error Code: MD-DL-0
and i literally tried everything:
1 - deleting the web cache folder
2- running epic games launcher as administrator
3 - checking if the firewall is blocking the launcher
4 - modifying the engine.ini file(it is not even there, so i tried to create it and pasting the command (notepad)
5 - checking internet
6 - exiting the launcher (in background)
7 - checking disk space
NOTHING IS WORKING!
Dude, I’m in the same situation but with Fortnite. I tried everything, even formatting Windows and doing a clean install, but the error persists. I’ve been dealing with this problem all week, and Epic’s support is not helpful.
Nov 25th now, having the very same issue today … is there a solution for it already? It is a new installation, just installed the games launcher, selected unreal engine installation and download stops after a few seconds.
Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.265.0
It would be nice to at least get some information about the error code, so we can try to find a solution, I also tried to reinstall with admin rights, but I am already in my admin account for installation purposes
i had same issue i finally had time to fix it in my case i did the next :
close the launcher , and make sure its not running from TaskManager
edit DefaultEngine.ini from inside launcher install directory (in my case its in C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Config\DefaultEngine.ini) open it then under [http] remove HttpTotalTimeout=30 line (open notepad as admin so you can save )
now open epic game launcher you should be able to download engines
from my understanding this was renamed from HttpTimeout to HttpTotalTimeout when launcher tries to download the manifest files which is 100+ MB each! and your internet slow it will Timeout in 30 seconds before the download finish and you will get the error
If anyone else is having this problem, I did this guys solution. Didn’t work when I deleted it. So instead of deleting the part he outlined. I change the value of the time out from 30 to 500. Tried to download 5.7 and it worked.
I am stuck unable to update from 5.7 to 5.7.1 on a windows 11 machine. I could and did upgrade on two other machines.
The ini file edit above did not work for me. Three machines here, Win 10, Win 11, and a MBP. All decent specs plenty of ram and disk space. Internet connection is terabyte fibre to the router and speed tests reliably fast. The windows 11 machine is the issue somehow.
I have no fix - just posting to say it is still a problem.
Oh My, This is critical … Never had any problems up dating before. What is different? I’ve tried the suggestions mentioned here. Edited the ini file as suggested … from 30 to 500 to 1000 to deleted the line (which for me is last resort. that line is there for some reason). Made sure the Launcher was not running in the Task Manager, restarted computer, etc. I do have a slow internet, but the previous downloads eventually reached the computer and new things were used. Now I’m at a loss and have no clue what to do. Unfortunately I knowingly uninstalled the previous launcher thinking it might be part of the problem. Apparently it took the 5.6 system with it. Now I can’t even open my 5.6 project since I can’t download 5.6 either. I know just enough to be dangerious.
I’ve worked my way from a Commodore 64 computer that we typed a program from a magazine onto a tape, to a Gaming Computer that will be my last. I’ve learned Unreal Engine the hard way, by gosh by golly. At 81 years …. I don’t want this dream to be unfinished. There has to be an answer. What is it. Mrs L….. Please what do I do now. Yes, this new computer is Windows 11, but that wasn’t a problem for 5.6.
