Unable to Install Unreal Engine 5.7 — Error MD-DL-0

I tried this on Mac (M4 mini) with the help of ChatGPT and about half an hour of searching through files on my computer this is what it came up with: Got it — if mdfind didn’t find ANY DefaultEngine.ini on your system, that means one thing:

:white_check_mark: The Epic Games Launcher for macOS no longer ships with a DefaultEngine.ini file at all.

This means the fix you’re trying to apply (removing HttpTotalTimeout=30) cannot be done on macOS, because the Mac version doesn’t use this configuration system anymore — that exact file only exists in the Windows launcher.

So you’re not missing the folder — it simply does not exist on macOS.

Please help Unreal Engine!

i think i know what the problem is and i solved it for myself. i was surprised to see today that my epic client launcher installs in program files and not in program files x86 anymore, which means its no longer a 32bit exec. Hence the issue. but you can still launch the 32 bit version from the 32 bit folder, C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win32\EpicGamesLauncher.exe , no problem downloading what you need with the old one.

I thought this one might work after trying many of the other suggestions. Ones mentioned here, You Tube and Facebook. Installing, uninstalling, etc. Unfortunately …. The 32 bit file folder was empty.
Since the computer is largely dedicated to Unreal Engine, I seriously consider doing a factory restore. The project is backed up / saved elsewhere so there isn’t much to loose.
Initially there was no problem installing the first time when it was new, just out of the box. I really hate doing that, but it will be a last resort. :frowning: I already restored it back to December 3. Didn’t help.
