one redit user mentioned that redownloading the game fixed the issue for them, i did the same and it also fixed it for me, id recommend giving it a shot for everyone
Edit: next day issue is still existing reinstaling the game doesnt help

Dont close the game normaly, i nuked the game with task manager instead of leaving the game as intended, and that worked once, i will update if its consistent
also tried this and it did not work
Epic needs to address this , I reinstalled both epic games launcher and Fortnite and I still have this issue
Closing the game with task manager instead of closing the game normally works for me so far
I was able to fix the issue by going to Library and clicking on the ā¦ menu>Manage>Verify Files. I think I had to Verify twice for some reason? But now Fortnite closes as intended instead of getting stuck and requiring a reboot to close down!
EDIT: OK well the problem is back again I guessā¦
Iām no technician/expert, but these things could help you fix the issue:
Try to enable the āEnd taskā windows button and use that to close the game. It might help you. Canāt guarantee anything but I usually use either that or Alt+f4 and havenāt had issues.
Additionally, you might want to check and close these processes:
- EpicWebHelper
- Fortnite
- EpicGamesLauncher
- CrashReportClientEditor
- CrashReportClient
If youāre a UEFN dev, also try:
Closing these processes:
- Fortnite (uefn process)
- uLangServer
- urc
Closing any IDE/code editor, such as Visual Studio Code
Again this is not an official solution but these might help
Why hasnāt this been fixed? This is so stupid. I have admin level privilege on my PC, what kernel crap has Fortnite installed thatās disallowing me to end task of Fortnite
