Unable to connect to URC

Summary

Long story short, but I recently had to reinstall windows and need to sync all my projects again. For the most part it’s been fine. But, today I noticed I kept having issues opening a specific project as it kept having ‘repository’ issues. So then I force opened the uefn.project from an external drive where I had backups and that opened fine but then URC wouldn’t connect no matter what. I then decided to start a new project from blank and noticed URC wouldn’t connect there either.

I’ve tried reinstalling UEFN, verifying files, deleting cache files/urc files and all sorts but nothing has worked so far.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Unreal Revision Control

Steps to Reproduce

Hard to say as seems to be super niche issue that I’m facing just on my PC.

Expected Result

to connect to revision control

Observed Result

fails to connect

Platform(s)

windows

Eek, that doesn’t sound pleasant at all

In case there’s a glitch in the project folder, try moving the entire project folder out of Fortnite Projects, open UEFN and try to redownload it.

Hello @iFlone ,

… which means you’re not able to connect to our servers.

This can be a local issue, either due to your machine, network or internet service provider.

In case you’ve configured a firewall: make sure port 41337 is available for network traffic.

Hello thanks for your reply! After some tests, making sure my wifi/firewall are not the cause of the problem and even reinstalling my OS, nothing seems to fix the issue. I’ve noticed it seems to affect only new projects while already existing ones with urc enabled on aren’t.

These other projects could be running on an older version of Unreal Revision Control.

Do you have any special network setup regarding IPv4 / IPv6 ?

It’s very likely as my project has been made months ago. Regarding the IPv4/IPv6 question, no I don’t. For the context, I’m running UEFN through CrossOver (Wine) on Mac (until now I had no issue with it beside urc issues). I’ve also tested using Parallels Desktop / VMWare Fusion with fresh OS, same issue. Tried reinstalling MacOS with only UEFN/CrossOver, it’s doing the issue only on new projects, on all the methods mentioned it never happened before 37.40 update.

@wouter So I’ve been asking a few friends of mine to test on their own side the same scenarios as me using CrossOver or a virtual machine running windows, they all have the same issue. Would sharing the UEFN logs help in anyway?

Some logs are always appreciated @iFlone !

If you open .urc/config.tomland change urcs://to grpcs://… does it work then?

Wow you’re amazing, grpcs:// is working but not urcs://, how come? In any case, which logs do you need in particular?

From what we’ve been able to find, there’s some issues with CrossOver and UDP traffic, which can happen in your particular setup. It’s outside our control to fix those issues.

You can try the fix mentioned in the linked Reddit thread and see if switching back to urcs:// works. It is recommended to use urcs:// over grpcs://for best experience.

Log files are no longer necessary now that we know the cause is likely unrelated to URC itself.
