UMG parabolic distortion

Hi all,

I have been looking at ways to make my UMG look better and saw some posts about parabolic distortion, which was exactly the effect I was looking for. But looking further into it I saw it was removed in 4.14. Is this true? If so how can I achieve this effect? Apparently I need to use a material of some sort. So two questions:

  1. How do I create a material to do parabolic distortion? I’m not very expirienced with materials so if someone could either give a very detailed explanation, link to a tutorial or maybe a download for an existing material that would be great.

  2. Once I have my material, how do I apply it to my UMG?

Thanks!

I made something like this before retainer boxes were introduced and it was meh at best.

This sounds better, though:

Yes, the comment on the answer looks perfect - using a retainer box with a materiał. Thanks for your help! I will post this as an answer for you.

As suggested by everynone a retainer box with a material works well.

For an example material. Thanks everynone!

Actually, I have come to test this out and need a little more help. I built the material in the picture but it ends up making my widget repeat vertically. Could you supply a screenshot of a material that would create parabola distortion like Airuen shows in the post you gave me a link to?
