Summary
Hey community,
I’m experiencing random crashes on UEFN for a while now, without any apparent reason. It happens at launch, when creating a project, archiving/syncing, or even just placing a simple block. It affects any map, even empty ones, and I don’t use Verse at all.
My specs:
CPU: Intel i9 13th generation
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super
RAM: 32 GB
Storage: 2 TB SSD (plenty of free space)
OS: Windows (up to date)
UEFN/Fortnite: Latest version (verified)
Error encountered:
Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION 0x000001f6d0208d66
Stack trace (repetitive):
UnrealEditorFortnite_Engine_Win64_Shipping (x many times)
… (up to kernel32 and ntdll)
I’ve attached a screenshot of the crash reporter.
What I’ve already tried (nothing worked):
Verify/repair Fortnite files via Epic Launcher
Update NVIDIA drivers (clean install with DDU in safe mode)
Force DirectX 11 (-d3d11 in additional command line arguments)
Delete DerivedDataCache and configs (GameUserSettings.ini, etc.)
Increase pagefile (virtual memory) to 32-64 GB
Complete reinstall of Fortnite/UEFN (deleting AppData/Local folders)
Update motherboard BIOS (Intel microcode for i9 13/14th gen stability)
Limit power limits in BIOS (PL1/PL2, disable E-cores/HT)
System diagnostics (chkdsk, sfc /scannow, Windows memory diagnostic)
Clean boot (msconfig, disable all non-Microsoft)
Reinstall Visual C++ Redist
Disable overlays (Discord, NVIDIA, Epic)
Compatibility mode Windows 8 + run as admin on UEFN.exe
Check temperatures (no overheating)
I’ve seen similar posts on UE forums (e.g., crashes at 36-40% after recent updates) and Reddit, but no definitive solution. Is this related to an Epic bug post-2025 update?
If anyone has ideas or Epic can check, thanks! I’m also sending a support ticket with logs.
