I also just got this problem and your way of opening through a new project also worked for me
Happening to me too since today, so frustrating, I think it does have something to do with windows defender
When I open a project I get detected a trojan and get stuck on the loading screen on 36%: Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml
It is the urc.dll file, to anyone experience this allow this file in windows defender or your antivirus of choice
For anyone still experiencing this issue who have already updated Windows Defender, but have not had success with the above resolutions, please try the following:
- Close UEFN if it is open
- navigate to
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Temp\.net
- delete the
URC
folder - reopen UEFN (the URC folder will be recreated from scratch) and try again to open the project
Upon reopening a project, the urc folder is recreated as expected however my projects still get stuck at 36%.
@LazyCreates can have you already updated Windows Defender (or any other antivirus software you have may be flagging it)
Yep, urc hasnât been flagged since I updated it. I also added every urc related folder to an ignorelist. I verified, reinstalled, even disabled Windows Defender entirely to see if that was the issue. But my projects still get stuck at 36%.
FWIW, in ESET, I marked the `C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Temp.netâ folder to not be checked / scanned real-time. That fixed the issue for me.
@LazyCreates Have you restarted your machine since taking those steps? do you have any other antivirus software that youâre aware of?
Also can you zip up this folder on your machine and share it with me so we can investigate all the UEFN and URC logs? C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite
- my username on Discord is EPIC_garren
I have restarted my machine, and repeated all of the solutions under this post to no avail. Iâll DM you on Discord soon, thanks!
My wifeâs laptop is having the same issue. Just started today. Canât upgrade to windows 11. No issues with defender or avast. Any luck?
Nevermind. This worked!!
- Close UEFN if it is open
- navigate to
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Temp\.net
- delete the
URC
folder - reopen UEFN (the URC folder will be recreated from scratch) and try again to open the project
This problem started happening to me today, apparently after a Windows defender update (Version: 1.411.280.0)
Tried everything on this thread (excepet reinstalling windows itself) and didnât work
Also I donât have a AppData\Local\Temp\.net
folder
In case it might help someone:
Iâve tried everything in this thread and what solved it for me was to simply run the Epic Games Store (and therefore UEFN) as admnistrator (classic windows experience )
Today for some reason unknown to me, I ran into this main issue (would not sync so it would not let me load or test my levels)
I followed these steps, restarted my machine and everything seems to be working fine again. Thank you.
Unfortunately this is happening again for me today and the solution that worked before, deleting the URC folder, is no longer working.
I also tried to run Epic games as administrator, but that did not solve it.
It is preventing me from working on maps.
I also just noticed that on these forums, even when I am logged in and posting here right now, the top right is asking me to âSign inâ, if I click on it, it sends me to the homepage and says I am logged in, but then I navigate to the forums and this thread, the top will still display âSign inâ. But, as you can see I am able to post.
I am wondering if I should make a new post for this issue⌠but I am REALLY wondering if it is related to my âCannot Sync⌠not logged inâ within UEFN.
Update: I am able to use UEFN and my project now loads and it seems it is able to properly connect to the content server. This now works for me after uninstalling virus protection software (malwarbytes)
