UEFN fails to launch after clean reinstall – process exits silently

Summary

Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) fails to launch on my Windows 11 PC.

When I click Launch in Epic Games Launcher, the status briefly changes to “Running” before returning to “Launch.” The editor never opens.

The issue persists after multiple installation verifications and a clean UEFN-only reinstall.

An earlier launch attempt displayed a missing tbb12.dll error. The freshly installed UEFN also does not contain this DLL in the two binary directories checked, although I have not established whether this version requires it.

Epic Games Launcher logs confirm that the UEFN executable starts but subsequently exits. No corresponding application error was found in Windows Event Viewer.

System specifications:

  • Windows 11
  • Intel Core i7-8700
  • 16 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA RTX 3050 6 GB
  • UEFN installation: E:\Epic Games\Fortnite_Studio

Please investigate the startup failure and advise on the next diagnostic steps.
