UEFN billboards cause huge memory bug

Unreal Editor for Fortnite

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Memory

Summary

Ever since UEFN came out, I realized some of my projects have way more than intended memory (150k+ more than in a session a few minutes before).

I realized with some testing that it’s billboards causing it and more precisely the resolution multiplier option. Every new project I do, 50+ since I first discovered this, all have this exact same bug.

The only way to fix it is:

  1. set all billboards to 0.5 resolution multiplier
  2. launch session
  3. once loaded in, set all billboards back to 5.0
  4. DON’T PUSH CHANGES, instead upload to private version
  5. once loaded, launch memory calculation

This is the only way to fix it and it’s very annoying so I hope this can be fixed soon.

Steps to Reproduce

Place a few billboards and set them all to 5.0 resolution multiplier.

Expected Result

Billboards take way more than intended memory.

Observed Result

UEFN doesn’t calculate

I was using this workaround as written above for my billboard device memory usage until this latest release. It seems that this workaround no longer works. Is anyone else experiencing the same?

I’ll likely be transitioning a bunch of my billboards to decals, but if anyone else has any other advice that would be great. Thank you!
