UE5.x Forward Rendering + MSAA and Masked Material

Hi,

I have a problem with my masked materials and Anti-Aliasing. No matter what I do, what settings I choose, my masked materials remain very pixelated (like not anti-aliased at all).

The image shows a solid geomety above four black stripes as masked material on a plane. Opacity-Mask has smooth edges to get alpha-to-coverage to work.

As you can see, there is no difference in the masked material.

I checked in a fresh UE4.27.2 project and it works just fine. I tried in UE5.4.4 and UE5.6.1 and I just cannot get it to work. Nanite is disabled.

Very frustrating, couln’t find any help googling.

I hope I am just missing a setting somewhere. Any suggestions?

Ok wow, not sure how I missed that, but there is a checkbox “Use Alpha to Coverage” in the Material. It’s in Mobile → Advanced Tab. It solves it.

Don’t know why it is in the mobile tab though.
