UE5 Tree lighting problem [4-27]

I’ve been having an issue with my foliage lighting. As the camera moves away from the trees, the lighting on them changes drastically. Once it’s very far away they become weird looking billboards.

I’ve checked the LODs on the trees and they seem fine, and I’ve tried to use Distance Field Shadows because Epic says that’s what fixes the issue (the second image under Directional Light Source Angle here: Distance Field Soft Shadows | Unreal Engine Documentation) but no dice.

Has anyone dealt with this before or maybe has some suggestions? I’ve been tearing my hair out ^^ Some pics of my results: UE5 Foliage Lighting Issue - Album on Imgur
