UE5 Textures Go Blurry When Increasing Engine Scalability Quality

Hello. I bought the Neon City environment pack from Marketplace to test. I opened up the default Overview map that was included that had the city environment built out.

I am running into an issue where when I increase the Engine Scalability settings, the textures on things suddenly turn blurry and low-res. So by default, the settings were at Medium quality, and things looked sharp. If I increase it to High or Cinematic, things turned blurry.

I tried testing the attributes one by one to see if I could isolate which settings were causing the issue. I’ve narrowed it down to these 3 settings that seem to blur the textures:

  • Anti-Aliasing
  • Shadows
  • Global Illumination

Here is an example of how the textures look SHARP:

But as soon as I bump up any of those 3 settings to the next quality level, it goes BLURRY like this:

Does anyone know why this is happening? Thank you!

Same problem. I’m new to UE5 and bought a bunch of Assets to get started. I have no idea why it’s happening. The assumption is that this is a bug that the have to fix.

Hi all,

I’m curious to know if this is only a problem with marketplace assets, or if you are seeing this with any/all textures in materials?

(In the content browser settings you can enable ‘Show Engine Content’ to find Textures/Mats easily accessible to everyone for repro purposes)

Thanks
