I discovered this weird issue that only I seem to have (although it’s possible I’m just using the incorrect search terms) where a UE5 shipping build (in both preview 1 & 2) still has debug menus and console enabled. It preforms exactly the same as a development build, and has worse preformance as a result. Why could this be happening & how could I fix it?
Any luck resolving this problem? I seem to have the same issue changing build configuration in the packaging submenu in Project Settings doesn’t seem to work either for the official UE5 release version.
the same issue
I reinstalled UE5 and now it works …
They’ve renamed target platforms, e.g. WindowsNoEditor in UE4 is now Windows in UE5 and Windows is now WindowsEditor. Could that be the issue here?
This worked for me, although I did uninstall UE5 Early Access 2 as well.
I’m having this same problem in UE5.0.0 Release Version. Reinstalling UE5 didn’t help.
I read that if you package using the launcher, you don’t get this problem.
I also notice this ( don’t know how handy it is )
Using the project launcher to package the game, worked fine as you said.
Thanks!
I’m never quite sure what the difference is between the launcher and other methods. They seem to share the same config…
I have the same problem. Super weird!
How do you package using the launcher? Is that the Epic Games Launcher? I only see the following in the context menu:
Well, that’s a UE4 screenshot and I don’t see it anywhere in the UE5 menus.
Anyway, this is still a major issue, isn’t it? Has anyone reported it to Epic? Should everyone report it to Epic?
Because nobody from Epic will ever read this.
I know the launcher is part of 5, but I don’t have a copy of 5 right now, to locate it…
UE5 Project Launcher Location:
Top Menu Bar,
Tools,
Tools,
Project Launcher
Was 8 down from the top of that section for me!
I’ve also been struggling with this…the thing is, in UE5 (I am using 5.1) there is no way of packaging in shipping mode without the launcher. Otherwise, although you choose “Shipping” it is still building a Development build…Pretty nonsense.
