LOL This actually worked for me too.
You can reproduce this issue when you use ‘simulate,’ and its shortcut key is alt+s. I guess it might have been caused by accidentally pressing this combination when saving.
wow ty!! went away, was so sick of it ;))
cheers
Where did you go to change this? Thank you.
Wow, that actually worked for me, thanks!
Worked for me too, unlike the other suggestions. Thanks!
@GFreee solution of “pressing play” - “restarting editor” fixed it for me.
I wasted hours with other solutions and recommend this.
Clicking play worked for me. Thanks.
This one is the still working solution for UE 5.3, just fixed mine.
What worked for me was switching to selected viewport, hitting play then esc, then switching back to my original mode I was using (in my case “New Editor Window”)
This worked for my oh my gosh thank you I couldn’t edit my landscape for months.
None of these solutions have worked for me in 5.3.2. The issue is not related to different play modes: this may have resolved the issue in some cases but as it hasn’t for all users it’s clearly not the solution.
It is also not helpful to advise disabling all screen messages, as Unreal Sensei suggested back in 2023. Might as well stick your head in the sand.
This problem has been reported repeatedly since June 2021. I have the same issue in April 2025. Almost 4 years without an actual solution, including asking on the official Discord in 2023.
If the error message doesn’t mean anything, as Unreal Sensei suggested, why does it continue to appear across several engine versions over several years?
