LOL This actually worked for me too.
You can reproduce this issue when you use ‘simulate,’ and its shortcut key is alt+s. I guess it might have been caused by accidentally pressing this combination when saving.

@GFreee solution of “pressing play” - “restarting editor” fixed it for me.
I wasted hours with other solutions and recommend this.

This one is the still working solution for UE 5.3, just fixed mine.
What worked for me was switching to selected viewport, hitting play then esc, then switching back to my original mode I was using (in my case “New Editor Window”)
