Hello, I have been facing a problem that made use blender more than I have to just because unreal is giving me hard time doing simple stuff in the modeling editor, what I mean is that whenever I merge objects together or displace them, the fps will drop to 9, And this only happens when I move the object after it is edited
Some questions then
-
Are you merging objects in modelling mode or with the Actors menu?
-
Before you displace an object, how much geometry are you adding? ( how many subdivisions )
-
Are these Nanite meshes?
-
What’s your machine spec?
-
I am merging objects in the modeling menu ')
-
I am not subdividing, I am remeshing, And only to 200,000 triangles or 100,000
-
no they are not but I will convert them, the reason why I didn’t because I was facing this problem
-
I have RTX 3070 8gb, Core i7 10700k, 64 gb rams
So you’re saying using the modelling tools is ok, but when completed, you can’t move the mesh without huge frame drops?
Exactly
It does just sound like the mesh is way too high poly…
Can you do it with one now, and tell me how many tris it actually is, and if it happens after you convert to Nanite?
okay
it worked, everything is fine when I enabled Nanite, I thought 100,000 when remeshing will set it to 100,000 nanite triangles and that’s why I thought it should be high, but when i enabled wireframe mode i saw that remeshing and then displacing will automatically add way more triangles than needed
The nanite triangles were 2M. now I know I should lower the poly count next time, also I appreciate the help
