Please send Help! UE5 keeps crashing when Compiling Shaders during the start up of ANY old or creating a new project
UE4 seems to work but I canât open anything in UE5
After selecting or creating a new project in the Unreal Project Browser the software stops working around 45% of shader compiling during start up.
I only get a pop up: âShaderCompileWorker failed - Crash inside the platform compiler :â
PC is running on a i9-14900KF (24 cores) and Nvidia RTX 4090
I removed and re-installed Unreal Editor and Epic game launcher multiple times
All the drivers are up to date (Nvidia/directx/windows) using DDU/clean install
CPU and Memory are not overclocking when it crashes (only maxed at 70% and 35%)
raytracing is turned off
Canât seem to find any other solutions, thanks in advance!
Steps to Reproduce
Starting any project in UE5
Expected Result
it always crashes with this pop up
Observed Result
pop up: âShaderCompileWorker failed - Crash inside the platform compiler :â
I have the same i9-14900KF 24 core, rtx 4090 24gb.
there seems to be some kind of compatiblity issue with the latest Gen processors and unreal. people were indicating that it was a memory leak. this would make sense as most if not all errors preventing a project loading are access violations. 5.4.2 is extremely unstable certainly with my hardware spec. Iâm just waiting for a cable so I can see my bios before trying the link, will keep you posted if it solves it for me
ive used Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility and lowered the performance core ratio from 57x (was my default) to 53x. Touch wood, I have just opened a project that always failed to load and it loaded first time. I will test for a bit and update.
UE5 crashes with âCrash inside the platform compilerâ might be due to outdated drivers or corrupted files. Update graphics drivers, verify engine files via Epic Games Launcher, and ensure your system meets the softwareâs requirements. If issues persist, seek support from Epic Games forums.
For intel i9 download Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility, change the performance core ratio from 57x (was my default) to 53x, apply and run unreal. it should now work.
This is just a hack untill hopefully unreal engine patches this problem.
NOTE: you need to change this everytime you reboot as it resets to its default.
If UE5 is consistently crashing with the âCrash inside theâ error, itâs crucial to address the issue swiftly. First, check for updates or patches, as they often fix known bugs. Verify your system requirements and ensure your drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, clearing the cache or resetting configuration settings can resolve startup issues. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to community forums or support for more tailored solutions.
I only had the shader compile once, and the only way I got rid of it, was a complete wipe of the system and starting afresh. uninstalling and reinstalling didnât change anything, even removing the folders to force the engine to recompile.
Drastic solution but with shader compile it worked and i havenât had it since.
Still canât open anything in 5.4, also after completely wiping it of my PC but it looks like they addressed the issue somehow in the latest update. It is in Beta still so donât wanna draw conclusions yet but at least I can start new projects atmâŚ
Why is it i am all of a sudden having this same issue when i didnt before all the same stuff but all of a sudden i can even create a new project. rtx 4090 with intel i9-14900ks i dont get it
