Summary
Hello,
I was testing with tutorials online about using Livelink, Apple kit and virtual camera plugins. Eventually got it down to work in 5.6 as mentioned in some of the tutorials it was made on, but while using the same standard setup, it isn’t possible with version 5.8. Wanted to see if I’m the only one or if someone can also try it out in 5.8 to see if this works on their end? Let me know, thanks!
What Type of Bug are you experiencing?
Virtual Production
Steps to Reproduce
- Install UE5.8
- Activate plugins RemoteSession, Virtual Production Utilities, Take Recorder, Apple
ARKit, VirtualCamera and VirtualCameraCore - Restart your scene and add a VCam actor
- Download the Unreal VCam app on your phone and open it
- Put in the IP address of your PC in the connection popup of the phone app
- In project settings, scroll on the right until you reach UDP messaging and in Unicast Endpoint, select or enter your Ip address in the section and add “:0” at the end
Expected Result
Normally this should track the positioning of your phone and you will effectively have a virtual camera being controlled by your phone. I tested it in UE5.6 and everything tracks and works perfectly.
Observed Result
On 5.8, the phone app never reads the connection, so I can never access the virtual camera like I’m supposed to. I tried some troubleshooting with Static Endpoints as well as some bit encoders but that didn’t change the result.
