Hello,
simple question: when I pack my game for win64, the trees applied with the foliage painter are missing. Every other foliage applied to the map still exists in the built game. When I launch the game in editor, the trees exists there, they only went away in the built version of the game.
Regards
Hey Dwabii95,
Which version of the engine are you on exactly, is it 4.8.3? Could you please provide me a small test project that you are working out of so that I can look at this issue closer and submit a report? I do not see one currently within our system. If there are exact reproduction steps I need to take, please include those as well within your next response.
Looking forward to hearing back from you, thanks!
I tried to make a test project, but there, the problem doesn’t exists and the trees are still in the built version. So it has something to do with the project. Sadly i cannot provide you my main project for several reasons (among others its nearly 6gb big), but I can provide the tree asset, which went missing in the packaged game. I will also try to reapply the tree as a foliage to see, if this will work.
reapplying this tree as a foliage on the landscape doesn’t work …
What version of the editor did you begin the project in, that you’re having trouble with? So migrating the tree assets into a new project do not cause the issue to reproduce? Have you tried deleting the assets and adding them back into your project?
Looking forward to hearing back from you, thanks!
Hey Dwabii95,
It’s been quite a while since I last heard from you and for that reason, I must close this thread as resolved. If you have any further questions regarding this specific topic, please do not hesitate in replying back.
Thank you and have a nice day!
Sorry, I was a bit busy the last few days (exams etc.) , but i kinda “resolved” it by using an another tree asset. Reimporting hasnt helped, so i think sth. is corrupted inside the project (startet with 4.5.1) in combination with the asset, which has caused the issue.
What reasons are normally responsible for an issue like this?
When older projects are updated to newer versions of the engine, sometimes bits and pieces of the original project need to be recreated. This is because newer versions of the engine are more efficient and have updated features that should be used instead of the other methods.
I believe this may be the issue you’re experiencing at this time.
Keep in mind that companies that create large AAA games do not update to a newer version of the engine each time it comes out. That’s simply because things to do change within the engine and you may need to recreate a large portion of your project that took many hours to create in the first place.
