I have a question. When you import an fbx and check the generate light map option, does unreal create its own light maps by unwrapping the model itself or does it take your UV that you already created and rearrange them?
It uses the lightmap seams that you already have and re-flattens them and arranges them, it can sometimes give better results than what you get in your 3D program. If your model isn’t unwrapped well then it would give bad results.
