UE 5.1 Path-Traced FX issue : Depth Fade

I’m trying to create some smoke FX with the path tracer however I noticed that depth fade doesn’t seem to be working currently.

Wondering if there is a workaround to get rid of the hard edge where the smoke makes contact with the ground without using depth fade? or if I should be using a different workflow instead of sprites?

Did you try using distance fields to mask the contact point?
