I’ve been trying to implement guards patrolling a path. I’m now using Target Points that they move to, one after the other. It works, but it’s quite cumbersome and the actual path is not displayed in the editor (unless you implement some debug drawing).
Will there be something in the future for this, or du I have to use my own, custom solution? I think Valve’s Source editor has a path object that can be also used to move objects along path points.
To what degree will community members artistic contributions be considered - is there a legitimate chance of work being used directly, eg, characters or weapons - and if so, how do you plan on acknowledging that in order to collaborate?
What is the best way to approach this for us? Post WIP’s and hope Epic contacts us? Upload our work somewhere specific?
In the case of audio and music, what if someone had an idea for a track and wanted you to hear it? (Considering that doing work entirely transparently would mean less true “surprises” once people see the game.)
what server+cloud processing+storage will be used by Unreal Tournament 4 ?
and advice on some of the good plans around for indie game developers for setting up multiplayer games on cloud.
Same counts for me too. I would love to give mapping a start but with the upcoming wedding I am not likely putting 19usd per month in, specially since i am in no way anything like a programmer, have no clue about C++. But I loved messing around with UnrealEd making severe attempts in creating maps etc. Took me days though for a simple box with lightning and some pillars, but it is a great way to start learning these kinds of things and get familiar with it (and hence, building the community further with enthousiastic mappers, skindesigners etc) For me that was a MEGA addition to UT’99, being a lovely game but with educational factor in it as well.
I was hoping to take some pressure off the moderators / devs by collating questions over the week. Also since the stream info thread was only posted yesterday it left a gulf. I wasn’t sure if you guys were going to ask for questions directly in such a thread. Sorry if it makes your lives harder
Edit: also I made the assumption that people were more likely to see this thread than the one posted in announcements, because you know, people.
Question regarding the future of UT overall.
Will there be a possibility it will be OS to everyone who is licensed to use UE4? As seeing the level of programming coming from professionals at Epic would be a great learning tool, especially when you had input on the game itself, and maybe even created some of its assets.
Thanks!
It already is open source to UE4 subscribers. You can register UE and go onto Epic’s private GitHub page to fork UE and UT. Though, the UT project is still quite bare bones.
Jokes aside would you prefer not to make another thread for next week? I was planning on doing so just to collate questions and make it a bit easier for you guys but if it’s actually unhelpful then I’ll abstain from doing so.
My internet hung up and so somehow it has merged the other thread over this one here -> so no, you aren’t a dev now
I personally think it is better to post the questions into the official thread which always gets created 4 days before the stream, so that everything is in one thread
