[Twitch] Announcing Unreal Dev Grants! - Feb 19, 2015 @ 2PM ET

Very excited about the Unreal initiative. I think its a fantastic idea and we are most definitely going to be submitting our game.

i may be a bit blind though but I was unable to find out when applications close? Reason being is that we would like to ensure that what we are submitting is of a satisfactory quality.

Regards,

Does the money anyone gets has to be paid back later? Or is Epic purely hoping that the money gained from the royalty is more than the funds they initially put into a project?

That is simply awesome. Good luck to all those who are about to submit their projects for consideration.

**[Question] : ** On what factors does a project / prototype qualify from “is nominated” and then into “merit” status?

**[Question] : ** How would you decide the amount that is to be released to a project ? Would the project lead have to submit a full fledged production-cost report or something like that ?

**[Question] : ** Will Epic be keeping a deadline for applications ?

Thank you and You guys are the BEST! EPIC!!!

i don’t want a cos i don’t have a game or real project but its going to be great to see on the stream, afaik i haven’t missed any of the streams and i’m not going to miss one

whats going to top one, - Mark - all at once, nah that would just blow the internet apart

[Question] Could we have a comment about your thoughts or perhaps current plan regarding topic in the link?

[Question] : If you apply for the and then get rejected, can you then apply again later on when your project has been improved?

[Question] - I write free books for the community and I sent an email applying for a ! I noticed it said that they allow education submissions to get a ; But does “Continue to write free books for the community” count as education?

Q: If I have been developing a game in another game engine could I present game and then move the project over to Unreal if I am awarded a ?

The blog post puts it pretty succinctly: Anyone making cool things with UE4.

Cheers,

I guess there will be more than just announcment in stream. I feel a couple more “exciting” news besides that

Will be watching

[Question]
, is it really true that you started Epic games with money you earned from mowing lawns? If so, thank GOD for those jobs!

Our team has finished fully working and polished demo of game in Unity some weeks ago. We are looking for publisher or someone who is possible to fund atleast part of development process. We have many years of experience in Unreal Engine 3, We worked in professional and on personal crowdfunding projects too. Also, we are playing with Unreal Engine 4 and we consider UE4 as engine for full game.

[Question]

Are we eligible to request for full game powered by Unreal Engine 4 even when our prototype is using other engine ?

Thanks ; I wasn’t sure - The excitement of it all got the better of me! Thanks! I’m super-stoked for it! I’d love to continue helping others with Unreal Engine 4 / Their game development dreams! :>

I noticed two of these questions still unanswered. Try asking in twitch chat during the stream if no one gets back to you.

If I had to hazard a guess, though, I would think a prototype created in/transitioned to UE4 would be required. I guess we’ll find out!

How long do you expect grants to exist? Should anyone who want to apply do now as fast as possible or will it still be possible in half a year? How finished should the prototype be?

What a great news !! will be more info about ? Due Date ?

Gosh! is just amazing! Nice that I will release in a couple of weeks a demo of the game I’m developing with my wife (she’s the artist) (perfect timing?), so is really a thing that might give us the needed boost!

Thanks again to all of you at Epic!

What a great initiative! We really appreciate all the support you guys give the community.
