Dang, lots of stuff I’m interested… navmesh streaming, animation retargeting (holy gods yes… animation is a big holdup, retargeting is ), hot reload…
Is the screen space subsurface scattering in 4.5?
What’s happening with the audio on these streams the last two thursdays? it’s awful (sorry). I can barely listen. Anyone else getting this? Sound used to be great but now it’s tinny and full of artifacts. ??
I watched it on Friday, and there was no problem with the audio then (neither with the weeks before), so unless it has changed since Friday then maybe something is happening your end or with your connection?
The last Thursday stream on the 25th started out like **** but they realized something was wrong and managed to fix it after a short while.
Is there a release date for 4.5 yet?
I’ve been wondering this too - on the stream they said “notes should be up today”
Yes i re watched the stream last night and it defenatly was mentioned.
Maybe they have some delays, it be nice to know tough.
It was not mentionned officially , so they will put it in 4.6

p.s. Twtich archives are a bit buggy for me at times + I like to download and the streams offline when I can
No of course there’s nothing wrong with my ‘connection’ I just checked it on youtube too, and can go back to old ones for ref. It’s awful sound, yes it starts off even more awful and is slightly better but it’s just terrible.
Sorry If i sound like a whinging fool but come on epic you know you’ve done something to change the audio, microphones or audio bandwidth settings or something. I used to listen to these and it was a pleasure now it’s almost torture. It’s super easy to tell the bass has been removed and the mid range is extremely over emphasised, along with this the audio clips often (Mini distortion when the volume is high enough) again seems related to the audio bandwidth/quality settings.

I can’t these on headphones like this, I hope you can go back to how it was and have no idea why Epic themselves haven’t noticed this (or maybe they have and are trying to get away with it for technical/bandwidth reasons with twitch or something) if so couldn’t you record high quality audio as you go live and replace it for the youtube ?
Bear in mind these are not 2 minute quick shots, they are very long over an hour videos and I used to put time aside to enjoy the latest video and never found fault It was like being in the same room in a meeting , now it’s really jarring especially when more than one person talks at once, now it’s more like being on a BAD quality phone call with them, it’s not good for the ears or the enjoyment of the videos. I just want them to ‘fix’ it, I don’t want to start a debate or be flamed by people who can’t tell the difference. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, no it’s all 3 mics - same as the previous stream (Platformer demo), never had a problem with any of the older ones but the last 2!. If you compare the two UE twitch YT vids I linked to in my last post you should be able to hear the dramatic drop in sound quality? no bass, no pressence, tons of distortion when more than one person talks, and god forbid you all laugh at the same time - clipping hell!
As the old videos still sound fine it can’t be anything my end, I noticed it on the previous stream not just this one and thought you’d purposely changed the setup there and it wasn’t for the better, so can’t understand if you haven’t made any changes. Maybe it’s a TWITCH fault? and you are uploading whatever twitch provides so the problem follows to YouTube too. Has someone changed your audio bandwidth/quality settings for your live streaming? do Twitch themselves limit it based on overusing bandwidth from an account? I have no idea but it’s definitely changed for the worse.
If you can’t hear the difference between the two YT videos (both Epic twitch streams) then perhaps you could try on quality headphones (I use AKG KS240s ), it’s more than apparent. If you on a laptop, tablet, phone etc you won’t hear the problem so much as they already sound ‘bad’ by comparison, though the distortion should still be obvious.
If it is something my end the only thing I can think of is if the old twitch was using something like HTML5 and now uses flash and my flash is out of date (for example), but that’s grabbing at straws…
