I just want to know about the LINUX EDITOR, is that going to make it into 4.5? please say YES!!

I guess that foliage updates made in 4.5. If they weren’t, then probably Epic would respond to so many requests, saying at last , we’re working on it " . They couldn’t reveal this because of the announcement surprise.

Since can check source code, I haven’t noticed any foliage related commits.

If you are asking about reflective translucent matierals, that is still going to be a limitation in 4.5. It is something we are aware of and we are trying to work on it while still using forward rendering.

A lot of bug fixes and clean up mostly. The new features that show up will make the workflow a bit different than it was previously, but all in all it should be easier to work with.

Regarding forward rendering… I’ve seen a better skin shader is in the works. Will that make it into 4.5?

i add: more in depth terrain painting features.
setting up layers in cryengine is by far faster than UE4’s material editor and still many shader problems…
…in comparison no real fun to use, needs alot of love as the road-tool needs as well.

I’d like to see this answered too. I agree it makes IDV look bad when they sell grass models, but these can’t be used for grass. I wouldn’t have wanted to purchase those and then be disappointed.

It’s really hard reality check, because when you work in ST modeler, trees look (to say at least), then you import tree to unreal, and you get one BIG WTF IS DAT LOOKING TIZ BAD !?

I’d really love the same the same quality of shading as it in ST Viewport, in unreal.

To put it blunt. It’s the reason why I haven’t yet bought single SpeedTree, nor subscribed to SpeedTree modeler. There just no reason to do so for now.

Ah, I misread . I thought he was referring to the subpar performance when using foliage overall. Sorry about that, but I do agree that the lighting needs a lot of work too.

It was mentioned in a stream that we barely missed getting 3D UMG implemented into 4.4, will this be available in 4.5? (e.g. attaching UMG to an actor for overhead icons/in-game HUD visualization, etc).

Well i will ask some obvious burning questions regarding 4.5 so please don’t shoot me! :slight_smile:

  • Will we finally get, with 4.5, Real-Time GI and fully functional emissive lighting, or at the very least static emissive lighting support as we had in UE3?
  • Any word on light shafts working on point lights as they did in UE3 with 4.5?
  • Will 4.5 finally fix the issue with materials being swapped for the default material during shader compiling?
  • A hair simulation such as NVidia HairWorks would be absolutely amazing, can we expect something like this n 4.5 or in the not-too-distant future?
  • Can we expect out of the box video file support with 4.5 as we had with UE3?
  • Any updated on Screen Space Reflections working with Translucent materials, possibly in 4.5?
