Tutorial: Your First Game In Unreal Engine 5

This solution looks similar to the next course within this ‘learning’ set of tutorials. If you wish to have a video on this (and even StackOBot) be sure to watch “Build a Third Person Character from Scratch”. He goes through this latest inputs there in much more detail.

I had same issue, bro. Try to increase the scale of navmesh in each direction

I’m sure there is great information here, but this is a poor tutorial. The tutorial is super rushed, which makes this difficult to learn from.

Thank you! This was what I was looking for!

This tutorial is very good! The teacher taught very well. But the characters on the interface are too small, some characters are hard to read, especially the small numbers.

Honestly for a first time user tutorial this was just awful. The instructor says to download files from the marketplace, but doesn’t provide any instruction on how to do that, and there is no download option in the marketplace. I ended up having to click the link to go to the marketplace, then open Epic Launcher, then find the same thing in the Launcher, then use the Create Project option because there is no download option, then finally find the actual files in a zip folder inside the new project. Why not just provide a direct link to the files we actually need or provide some actual instruction on how to use the marketplace?

Every time the instructor clicks on buttons or options in the UI without first saying anything about what they do or where they are clicking, which meant if I couldn’t find that option I had to go back in the video and re-watch to find the option. It also means the next time I watch a tutorial that mentions these options, I won’t know what they’re talking about because nobody described it the first time.

Finally, there is a lot of terminology thrown around without any explanation of what it means, whether it’s important for beginners, or how to find out more about it. I assume this is because the instructor is not a trainer and doesn’t know how to train by breaking things down and explaining them.

I’m sure if you’re familiar with UE and all the options and terminology, this is a nice slow introduction. But for anyone who is an actual beginner, it’s a really bad job. I’m really tempted to just ditch Unreal right here, because getting through this At least hire someone who knows how to be an instructor and can explain what they are doing!

Thank you very much!

Same issue and this solution helped ! TY!!!

Kind of agree this tut could use some updating- but searching through these comments have helped solve any issues I’ve been having - hope you’re able to get through as well!

Hi everyone! Im struggling with the ia movements. I read this post, but nothing helped me.
I test changing the destination point, I checked if the 0,0,0 was on the area of the NavMeshBoundsVolume. But notting happens, the robot dont move.

This is the bp, I also tryed with the ia movement to the orb, but it’s the same…

Someone know how to help me?

Hi Neocles!

I think I found the cause of this. I was having the same problem so I started messing around with the location values and it worked.
What I think is happening is that 0,0,0 is an unreachable point and so the AI wont move.
I changed the value of the X in the destination:

I used 5040 because of the size of my Landscape as you can see here:

If I set X to 5040 it will go to the top of the map:

And if I set it to -5040 it will go to the bottom:

So its very likely that your problem is that the location you are telling the bot to go is unreachable.

I hope this helps

Fixed it. Thank you!

Also check that your BP_AICOntroller looks like this

THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL ITS A PREVIEW OF A MARKETPLACE PRODUCT

Why it’s so fast ? really complicated to follow so in result I did some error and to find where it was it hard when we are beginner (and when your first language it not English).
Beginner not friendly at all !!
I f you don’t want make a tutorial don’t do it instead to rush it. :-1:

I agree 100 % with you a gave up at 44 min.

Agreed. This is unusable for someone trying to learn the software even after going through the “your first hour” training.

Thank for good tutorial.

But, I think this tutorial the speaker do something too fast for me(Beginner).
Also I think should avoid to use keyboard shortcut like ctrl+L for beginner, I understand finally it’s just the same as rotate the light after wast lots of time to google and searching reddit.
