A few people seem to think we’re trying to delete content we’ve downloaded. This is not what most of us are asking for. We are asking for more customization of the Vault Cache tab on the launcher.
At the very least a hide button for unused, or out-of-date content. Since day one of using UE I have struggled with the concept that I can not customize my vault cache and why this ability hasn’t been added by Epic yet.
As @Zennith997 said, people are confusing this issue. This is NOt to do with vault items taking up precious space… This is the fact vault items cannot be removed from the library or in any way organised.
Say if I have hit the 1,000 limit of vault items, and I want to add one to m project… I will need to search for this one specific asset/pack in the whole library.
I have about 3 content packs that are compatible with 5.1, which is what I am now using for my new game project. I have no plan to go back to older versions of the unreal engine and therefore the old packs are useless to me. They’re all packs that cost nothing, so I don’t mind losing them for good. A tagging system would fix the issue and would likely be the easiest to implement. Or a ‘Remove from account’ function like what has been implemented in Steam libraries.
Hell, even a ‘favorite’ feature would be better than what we have now. At least then I could favorite the only 3 packs I would likely use going forward so they’re easier to find.
My god I cannot believe that Epic have ignored the issue for 7 years.
This issue is indeed affecting my enthusiasm for spending on the Epic Marketplace. Additionally, I would rather spend more money on Steam and not use the Epic Launcher to play the same game, because the Epic Launcher is just too terrible.
I guess we have to wait for the 2028 Unreal Keynote speech, where Epic Games finally announce that they are implementing a “Delete from Vault” button.
They made a great play on making the Unreal marketplace available to all game engines. I can tell you those other developers in Unity, Godot etc will laugh at the Unreal market Place Store, if users cannot delete any previous Assets. It is so lame. Epic and Unreal is supposed to be so cool, and it cannot even implement a simple delete button. What a bunch of losers.
(BTW the rest of the Unreal Engine 5.1 is simply Awesome !)
I am so mad that you can’t just delete or hide things from the vault, and I feel really sorry for the big developers that have to make new accounts just because of this. BTW unreal 5.2 is awesome just that the epic launcher needs a redesign.
Really, I need to delete a ton of unwanted vault content that I don’t even have installed because they are outdated and can’t even use them anymore. I have like 4 years worth of free things that no longer work or are for UE4 only. That strange grayed out unclickable chevron thing next to the stuff you want to remove is a tease that is driving me mad. Help us, EPIC GAMES!
The terrible vault experience is the single reason I’m not using unreal.
It’s not that I can’t work around it it is because it is still an issue 8 years later.
I don’t want to work with a company that has that terrible of a customer experience.
now 2024 even after 8 years they still havent fixed this. i just dont wanna see what i downloaded for some tests and want to delete it from vault catagory but cant
