to be honest I was expecting a lot more performance gain…
indeed it’s almost imperceptible… (in my demo at least)
anyone else impressions?

Same here. My scene has a reasonable amount of geometry, both near and far. But just default shaders. Not many live lights.
I don’t know what kind of ‘scene-case’ this optimization was targeted at. (im comparing with 4.10)
If you are comparing it to other previews then there should not be that big of a difference afaik (and I might not as my stuff was running nicely before and I have not taken a look at the change notes for preview 5). But by enabling instanced stereo under project settings I gained a LOT of performance back compared to 4.10. Even so much that I can not justify going back to 4.10 even if it is quite a bit more stable at this time.
I compared it with 4.10.2
however I only used PIE, maybe not the best way to compare, I dont know…
(I enabled/disabled many times to be sure, restarting editor each time and rebuilding everything too)
I tried 4.11, updated from 4.10. Enabled Instanced Stereo in my project and had instant massive improvements to framerate. It was like flicking a ‘smooth’ switch in my project. Nice. One problem I am having however is a black flickering whenever the player is moving near a particle cloud/smoke element. Anyone else getting this?
