Trouble with Speed Boosts

Summary

Hi, Im sure its not a bug, more likely user incompetence… Im trying to make these boosters for the player to make longer jumps across the map. So sometimes I place the Speed Boost item and it works in gameplay, and other times I place it and it doesn’t work. Either nothing happens or the player falls through it with no boost.

They seem to behave wierdly for me, in the game. Some work some dont, it doesnt matter if I duplicate a working one, or try placing a new it doesnt seem to make a difference.
Ive notice an extra bounding box in green outline, but cant figure out how to move it.

Steps to Reproduce

Drag speed boost item in, then rotate it around off the edge of a bit of my map, then play it in game and just fall through it.

Expected Result

Drag it in, rotate it around, try it in a game, and it would give the player a speed boost

Observed Result

The Player falls through the Speed boost ramp and falls to unfortunate death.

Yeah they have a lot of settings, and related to trap placement, with instigator, source instigator and whatever it’s attached to rules…maybe this is the cause of the unreliability.
Perhaps they only operate correctly if they’re aligned to the player build grid ??? dunno.

Have you tried the Movement Modulator Device, it looks similar but isn’t a trap so it may behave better in this situation, you’ll just have to adjust the values to get it to boost the player how you want

Appreciate it! I’m also trying to make a volcano that has heat that lifts the players into the sky? Any ideas?

Depending on what your going for,

there is the Volcano Geyser, it has limited controls and I think it puts the player into glider deploy afterwards.

The Skydive Volume, has push force up or down, can be enabled/disabled, gives player in zone events, glider redeply optional and more, puts the player into the skydive pose, so it may look more appropriate for the heat rising kind of situation.

Movement Modulator with a big upward impulse

D-Launcher, can be set to invisible, player jumping pose I think

Air Vent is another solid option because it can be set to invisible
