Translucent materials are not affected by light function

Hello,

I’ve noticed that Light Function on Directional Light has no effect on Translucent or SingleLayerWater materials. Here’s a video showcasing that.
And here’s a video of basic setup with simple Water and Light Function materials in an empty project (using open world template).

You can see that water is shadowed by the landscape that obstructs the light, while the light function has no effect. Is this a bug or am I just doing something wrong?

Any help solving this issue is greatly appreciated!

I had this issue too and it turned out that using “Surface ForwardShading” lighting mode in the material will have this effect. I switched it to “Surface TranslucencyVolume” and the issue is solved for me.
