Translucent curtin or leaf

I don’t know why I can’t find any docs or tutorials on this. Im trying to make a translucent curtain that is back lit. So that if someone or something walks behind it it will cast a shadow. I don’t want to be able to see through it at all but if the moon were shining on the back side it would light up… make sense?

Take a look at the realistic rendering example, it has curtains by the window that have that effect.
