Trading templates. What do you think?

Like a lot of us here I have spent many hours troubleshooting problems for the projects I am working on. A lot of the time when it comes to VR there is very little info or tutorials out there that can help us and if you are not an expert in blueprints then when people do try to help here it can be hard to follow their advice. Most of the time we hope there will be an asset released on the marketplace that will solve the problem we are trying to fix.

I am pretty sure that every problem that we have someone reading our post has already found a fix for that issue and have it in their project but for obvious reasons are unwilling to show screenshots for that fix or share a template with it setup. I’m also sure that there are some issues they are struggling with that someone else has figured out. Now there are a lot of good folks here that will try to describe what they did to fix the problem or link to a tutorial that helped them but most of the time that doesn’t help you for the problem you have or as I have said above can take many hours or in some cases (for me) weeks to fix the issue.

One example for me that took me a while to figure out is to have a 3d menu that would allow you to go back and forth. All the tutorials that were out there didn’t help you create something like this VR Menu H3VR Tutorial #2: Item Spawner & Ammo Manipulation - YouTube surprisingly it is pretty hard to create a menu like that in VR.

Anyway what I am proposing is a trade system where you can offer templates for issues you have overcome in exchange for issues you haven’t yet and otherwise would take you many hours, days or even weeks to accomplish. You wouldn’t post your template here on the forum but instead, post the issue you need help with along with fixes you have already figured out and through PM offer to trade.

For anyone that is reading this and is thinking well it wouldn’t take me that long to find a solution for the example you provided (3D menu) then congratulations. You are fairly well versed in UE4 and obviously don’t need the help I am suggesting, however, if you are like me and can take a lot of time to fix issues you are facing and have solved some of the problems that a lot of people here are asking for help on and they might have something they have already figured out that can help you then this might be right for you

I don’t really see it working the normal channels of hiring people, forming teams, or buying assets are just more convenient and don’t leave much room for a barter system to form.
