Tips for improving what I got so far?

Hi! So I am currently designing a wooden, cold fjord-like area surrounded by an ocean and snowy mountains.
Currently, I have a basic terrain going (most of it is still empty space that I can use creatively later some time down the line) that paints automatically that I can quickly modify with custom brushes. I made an ocean water shader that I’ve tried to mak look cold, having a dark blue tint as it gets deeper.
Some rocks and pebbles that automatically get moss applied to the top and blends in with the terrain, and some grass and weeds that blow in the wind and some clouds.
My next planned step is to make some bushes, then trees, place those naturally around and perhaps a few forests around the map. Then I think I’ll add some cottages and various details from humans being around.
Ignore the BSP, tree and dog head stuff, those are just temporarily there for some experiments.

But I’ve noticed that I have slowed down and started losing perspective on the stuff I have so far and would like some input on the things I already have.
Do see anything that I could do to quickly improve the visual quality and take it up another notch?

Also, on a side-note does anyone have any ideas on how to make the terrain less shiny? I have it at a roughness of 0, yet it still looks covered in vaseline and reflects waaaay too much white light and none of its innate colours. When other objects are placed on the terrain and the player faces the sun, it leaves an ugly contrast.

I thing maybe you have it the wrong way around. If we give you tips on how to improve this, you’ll get even more bogged down, like you say.

Best thing is to go rattling through the whole thing and get a workable level, then polish it later. If you make it perfect as you go along you’ll never get there, as you are probably experiencing.

As far as the landscape goes, you say you have roughness 0, surely you want that at 1?..

I meant to say that I have it at 1, sorry.
I figured out what the issue was, I was blending my mask for the snow material with a screen blend, so some of the grassy areas still had some specular from the snow applied.
I increased the contrast of the mask and subtracted an inverted version to make a mask that removes the area from the snow to be applied to instead.
