Time for an upgrade

Ok my GTX900 machine is looking pretty old, so time for an upgrade. I received the following quote (in $AU) and was wondering if these are the right specs and price if i’m freelancing with Blender, Unreal/Twinmotion, Photogrammetry software, mainly for technical or interactive architecture still or animated projects (see my portfolio here https://twistedpancreas.artstation.com for the work I do)…

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3800XT, 8 Core
(Base: 3.90GHz, Boost: 4.70GHz / 32MB Cache / AM4 / 6 Core)
CPU Cooler - AMD Prism Wraith Cooler

Motherboard - ASUS AMD B550 ROG STRIX B550-A
2x M.2 SSD Storage / Wifi 6 / 2.5 Gb LAN / USB 3.2 / USB-C

RAM - Hyper X Fury 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz DDR4

SSD - Crucial P2 1TB M.2 NVMe Storage
SSD - Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" Sata SSD

PSU - Deepcool DQ 850W Gold Power Supply

OS - Genuine Windows 10 Home

TOTAL: $3,058AU including GST

Upgrade to 64GB RAM, additional $280AU+ GST
RTX 3070, Additional $1,550AU incl GST
RTX 3080, Additional $2,400AU incl GST
RTX 3090, Additional $3,400AU incl GST

Sounds awful.
Looks like they charge you +30% for prebuild system. Even if you are in AU, you can get much better deal building pc yourself. Or pay somebody $100 to assemble it for you.

CPU
For +100 USD you can get 12 core CPU, for + 250 USD 16 core. Your build costs a lot of money, +$100 or +$250 is small fraction extra for huge performance boost
Look at benchmarks

GPU
Prices seem to be going down. May be wait for 1-2 months more.
May be buy cheapest GPU ~ 3060 TI, in 1 year prices will decrease 2 times. You can upgrade then.

Also they are selling you old gen CPU. New gen costs like +5% more, but gives +20% more performance.
I hate prebuilds.

Yeah I’m not really that hardware savvy so that’s why im getting them prebuilt, but thanks for that, I also got these 2 quotes…

My friend, this is the best build if you can buy it here
Dreampc
$4,102.22

Please note about my selection
CPU 12 core, for +400$ you can have 16 core - 30% faster render/shader compile if you want.
No build in wi-fi card - I assume you run ethernet cable from router to PC. Unless you may need it +35$.
Storage space - 2.5 Tb - is it enough? you can add 6TB of slower HDD for 250$
PC case without glass - much quieter, but you cant see shiny colors inside.
Videocard - has 8 GB memory, unless you want 12.

P.S. It would be good if you listed what cpu/gpu you have now. You may have like 24 cores now, I dont know?

Heads up. At the moment there is a microprocessor shortage so supply and demand is in effect.

Hard hit are next gen GPU’s and the usual places I purchase my upgrade stuff is sold out with no idea as to a restocking time line.

Thanks guys,

yeah my machine is a dinosaur, ie…

i7-5820K 12 Core
GTX970 GPU
16Gb RAM
