OH MY GOSH @jay_villanueva YOU REMEMBER CHIBI ROBO??? It’s my favorite game I’ve ever played! It was so formative for me and I still think about it often. I feel like it escaped a lot of people’s radar because it was released toward the end of Gamecube’s relevance. Sometimes when I try to explain it to people I feel like I’m living in a Twilight Zone scenario where Chibi Robo only existed in the minds of me and my brother But ya I love the bizarre mismatched tone of that game - so cute and colorful but also surprisingly emotionally raw for a game where you happily clean up pawprints using a tiny toothbrush. I recently played it a little on Dolphin and it holds up for me.
And ya you’re right, I’m def going for the vibe of a game that players can relax with after work or school. A nice manageable little world for people to escape into. Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for your help with the errors! It may actually have been a blessing in disguise because this week I totally tabled mechanics and focused solely on art, and I got a lot of aesthetics done. I’m actually compiling pics rn for my next TidyPals devlog. Sometimes I feel guilty for focusing too much on “fun” art stuff when games do need mechanics in order to function. But without building props I didn’t have that excuse.
