A large number of assets in the UEFN / FNC content browser are partially, (or fully) broken, here is a list of the major ones, that the community would love to see fixed.
Nature assets ( ordered from most broken to least broken)
Any tree or foliage asset from chapter 2, essentially anything in the “Variant Foliage Gallery A” is severely discolored, along with that the LOD transition is super awkward which didnt happen before, below is an image attached that is a comparison on how they look now compared to how they looked before they broke :
any of the terrain pieces post chapter 4; they all have the “biome mask” system applied to them which means the chapter 4 (or 5) biome colors are applied to the assets with no choice of you disabling it making it unusable if your terrain is a specific color.
majority of the rocks from chapter 5 and 6 have RVT on them when you remove their texturedata (or put custom texturedata), but since RVT is disallowed in UEFN they get very purple at the intersecting point, this is also with a lot of the terrain pieces from chapter 5.
The default landscape material in UEFN’s foliage has been messed up for over a year, before the grass color use to mesh with the landscape, but an update in 2024 randomly made it way brighter giving it this super cheap look for anyone wanting to use it:
A lot of legacy and ch2 vines and foliage assets have super buggy collision that causes teleports, stutters, and rubberbanding
in the “Color picker RedAlder” Tree there is an issue where there’s 2 of the tree inside eachother, problem with that is one of the meshes is the nanite updated version from chapter 2 remix while the other is not, which makes it really jarring, and unusable as the nanite version isnt colored by the color you pick so its main function just doesnt work
The Chapter 2 Palm Trees from the Jungle Nature Gallery Palm Tree Head drift OFF the body of the Palm Tree stem
The Chapter 2 Swamp Trees along with its Forest Trees, on first site appear normal, actually look NOTHING like how it did when on the Chapter 2 Map, they too have been scaled down since the launch of Chapter 3.
The Christmas Prop Gallery Bush cannot be walked through
The Customizable Foliage galleries Trees do NOT appear on the Minimap or Map at all, appearing as a dot. a small one.
The problem with the colour picker trees are that the shadow proxies which should be hidden, are instead being shown which use the nanite version of the tree for some reason or another. It’s why for the most part youd be safe using them still (only people with nanite would likely see the issue in game.
As for the trees themselves, literally all epic need to do is apply the material the shadow proxies use and that not only fixes the lighting on them, but also allows for the new tree colour picking system (seen in chapter 4 trees and beyond) to work on the chapter 2 trees. The reason the shadow proxy one works is because as stated, shadow proxies use the newer trees so they’d also have the newer materials made for them in season remix. Overall both of these issues are super easily fixed and really should not take epic any time at all.
The color picker system is built into the tree material that has “broken” visuals, simply switching the material would break the color picker logic. The solution is to remove the material function “MF_TreeFresnel” from the color picker material, it was removed from the main tree material for Remix, its not a bug necessarily, was a deliberate design choice in Chapter 3, but it makes them look awful.
Would like to add onto this, the base tree leaf color texture (T_Apollo_Medium_Leaf_D_Clr) was changed in Chapter 4, this texture is used for Apollo Medium Trees, Apollo Red Alders, Apollo Birch Trees, and Big Bushes, it was changed to be a whiter color in 23.00 so that the Big Bushes on Asteria could be more easily recolored, reasonably this should have been it’s own texture, but it was not. This needs to be reverted to the texture from 22.40> for the trees to not gain a yucky yellow coloring (which they also had in Chapter 2: Remix at times), the trees having this texture is an oversight due to the shared texture not being accounted for in Chapter 4 and the Apollo trees in question not being used anywhere in said Chapter.
