The Unreal Marketplace Improvement and Feedback Thread

Could support actually be done through a message system within the launcher/website, which requires an Epic login and can verify that the user has bought the product?

I agree, having a way to ensure we’re not providing any support to people who haven’t paid for the product is crucial.

Is the Sword Animset Pro (the one without shields) by Kubold still coming for marketplace? I heard he submitted it very long time ago. I would be very interested of that pack. Just to show my support for the release.

why it is that the mp still doesn’t have the basic features of an marketplace?
I know you guys are trying to hide its infancy but come on.

Things like comments, ratings (from people who purchased it), and views.

Sounds fair ! Thanks for the awesome work that the Marketplace place team is doing. 5 stars!

I already know how would affect the marketplace, prices would go up and it’s not necessary bad thing for sellers or buyers of some top tier products, but that would hurt cheapest stuff. The more complicated the product, the larger price would be. Also, if we take into account the fact of piracy, resell from piracy sites and people who buy stolen stuff from those sites or even just download it from torrent, those people actually ask a seller for support and fact would not help to make cheap and good products. Purchase confirmation tool is required.
[/]

I don’t necessarily agree that prices would get higher, as that’s purely up to the sellers. But for purchase confirmations, that’s the first thing we collect before contacting the seller for support, and we always remain available to verify purchases for sellers. In our backlog we have plans to allow sellers to do directly instead of contacting us, but in the meantime, we’re happy to verify it for sellers upon request.

The refund policy seems fair for both sides to me. Good work. =)

Thanks ! It’s been in the works for months, and we’re glad to finally go public with it.

That is planned for the future, but in the meantime handles that verification. Per the refund policy, we gather that information in advance to verify the purchase before contacting the seller. Outside of that, if you can request the same information in the refund policy and email us at for verification, we’ll turn that around as quickly as possible.

We have these features on the web, and we’re bringing all of those plus search into the launcher in the near future. It’s currently in testing in our dev environments, and we’re making some final changes to page layouts before pushing it out to the public. I posted a teaser screenshot of it in thread on a previous page.

i noticed that. but even on the web you don’t have things like, how many people rated.
Whats good is a rating if you don’t know how many people who rated it.
could be one person with a 5 star. it also shows how many people who purchased the assert which is helpful when buying asserts and us lurkers who want to create assets.

Also a view functionality would be nice aswell. It shows what assets people are interested the most. It will drive content creation.

Thanks man! I was happy about that, too. Makes so much more sense, and it’s better for SEO.

I agree. Not showing the number of ratings is actually a bug that cropped up last week, and that’s going to be fixed in the near future, possibly at the same time as we bring the web features to the launcher.

Views is a good idea! I’ll see what kind of tracking\analytics we’re planning on baking in, and what we can make visible. Thanks for the feedback!

Any thoughts on having some kind of tag system ? I made a suggestion about it over in the difficulty ratings thread. I think it could be really useful, both for searching the marketplace, and also at-a-glance information without having to click-through to an asset page.

I love the idea, and I just replied there and added it to our backlog\wishlist.

Wow, a response within minus 2 minutes. Impressive!
Cheers .

I think there are people out there who would find it great if we could see how large a package (in terms of file-size) is before buying it. I have more than enough space for the time being, but others may not.

And I think I just saw some recently-released assets (as in released just a week ago) that are not compatible with 4.9.

I feel there is a way to “curb” marketplace piracy a little.

So, you know how most, if not all, marketplace items have an email link to the Devs for support/questions?

How about a Support Button in each marketplace item, that links back to the dev. But is routed through Epic Marketplace. Pretty much what will happen here, is that it will check to confirm that you have purchased the item you are requesting support, and if yes, email sends to dev. If NOT, well then…that’s up to you Epic. I am not sure if there’s a way around it, but that’s my best guess. will also decrease spam emails to them.

or just give a seller list of all purchases with unique ID or just forum name of the buyer.

In short, I think only the owners of the product should be able to leave a comment on it. Otherwise the feedback can’t be trusted.

[LAUNCHER] Blueprints: Create Project, Add to Project, Add As Sub-project & Config File Merging

Hello All.

I ran into a installing the Modular Player Structure from the Launcher. It sort of created a sub-project within my primary project. was not a problem, until specific Configuration Files were overwritten. Luckily I had source control to restore the config files and merge the needed modifications. Then it dawned on me two new features were invented, *Add As Sub-project, *Config File Merging (,and Add to Project w/Config File Merging).

Modification is practically required for Blueprints Modules with player input mappings (DefaultInput.ini) and some modifications are DefaultEngine.ini for networking. If the Launcher could merge config files, than BP Devs only need to include their adds in the config files for merge. Although, extending/inheriting custom configuration files similar to UDK would be great… Configuration File Merging could solve many integration issues and clunky migrations.

Please consider. Thanks for reading.

no, mb someone want to ask something about product before purchase and everyone can/should see it, but those who purchased should have mark as Owners of the product.
Same as steam with with review and counter for hours spent in game.

Identifying publisher comments is something on our blog wishlist (so commenters and readers can see when the author responds :)). Possibly can be reused here if we get it implemented!
