The Unreal Marketplace Improvement and Feedback Thread

My plugin Turn Based Strategy Grids has been plagued by a series of delays and backend failures, all of which lead me to plea for : Please give content creators a way too instantly manage their marketplace content’s screenshots, descriptions and possibly asset packages.

would have solved all issues that I’ve encountered as a content creator:

  • When my plugin originally appeared it was linking another content creator’s website. I mailed about it, it got fixed 4 days later. But due to a backend failure, it got unfixed one day later. I mailed them about it again, and time it took 10 days to fix it. In short, during the two weeks after initial release, I was advertising for another content creator.
  • When 4.7 went live I found out my plugin was giving a few blueprint errors due to a change in interface to object casting. I fixed the the same day 4.7 went live, but it took 4 weeks before it was rolled out on the marketplace, because Epic staff was tied up with GDC. I received numerous emails and PMs about the over those 4 weeks, all while I already had it fixed. I have also put out an update since then, which includes new features.
  • Now my plugin is on Flash sale! But the entire marketplace page is reverted back to the first version. The description is outdated and thus doesn’t mention the new features, the screenshots are outdated and once again I am advertising for that other content creator (you’re welcome C-Media Solutions).

All in all I’m happy with how well the plugin is doing, but after putting so much work into , being misrepresented at critical times feels like a kick in the nuts.

Most of could have been avoided if there was a way for content creators to update their own descriptions, website and screenshots. My guess is that has been in the make for some while, but I feel it would be good to give more priority. Its a pretty low hanging fruit. I do realize that allowing us to manage our actual asset pack ourselves is a whole new level of responsibility you would be giving away- trusting content creators to upload correctly structured and working content. But I feel wouldn’t be a big since the first submission is completely moderated.
