The SoulKeeper VR - Closed Alpha Demo & Upcoming Early Access

Hey fellow Unreal Devs, it has been a while since our last post here, but we wanted to share some of the progress we have been making on The SoulKeeper VR.

We just released a closed Alpha, you can read about it at UploadVR
We also launched a short teaser trailer, feel free to check it out:

Some screenshots :

We have already switched the project over to the latest 4.14 preview version, and we are looking forward to the stable 4.14’s release.

In the meantime we are looking to extend the closed Alpha to more users soon enough, and we would be more than happy to share some keys with fellow UE devs.

Thanks! :slight_smile:

Very cool stuff? Looking forward to your release. Looks like quality stuff. Should I PM you for a key, or is this reply sufficient? :slight_smile:

First of all congrats on the alpha. Been following the work, looks promising. As for the game itself, what would be recommended graphics card to run the game, as it seems resource hungry.

This game was my very first experience with a Virtual Reality machine ever during the 2015 Playstation Experience. It was amazing…until it wasn’t. the first 2 minutes of my demo where fine until the machine crashed so hard and froze in such a way that it made my eyes cross and when the video never started again it was a full 10-15 seconds before the attendant ripped the headset off saying “oh god, im sorry im sorry” he saw i was turning 12 shades of white and wouldn’t let me get up from the chair for a full 5 minutes.

This looks amazing. You’re raising the bar for the rest of the VR community :slight_smile:

Thanks Zaptruder, PMing for keys is fine. We are working on getting more keys due to the overwhelming demand, but anyone interested in possibly getting one, just PM me with your email address and I will forward it to the right person.

@Shin_ji thanks! It is a bit on the hungry side indeed. We have been running it on i7s (3930, 4770, 5820, 6700) most of them with anything between 8-32GB of RAM, and with gtx970, 980Ti, 1060 and 1080. We found that turning off the shadows completely, and bringing down the effects quality made the game playable even on the lower end systems, without sacrificing much of the visual quality. On Ultra settings even the strongest of systems had a bit of challenge when casting continuous fire streams, but that was kinda expected. Also the feedback we got so far has been great, so I would say if you have an i7, with a 980Ti or better and 16GB RAM or more, you should be pretty comfortable to hit a constant 90fps.

@JacobVR, interesting, since we have not been present at the 2015 Playstation Experience. In addition, the only demo we had in 2015 was a non-interactive one for the DK2 (

@Slayemin, thanks, much appreciated! :slight_smile:

I can’t wait for this game to be released, it looks so awesome. Would love to be part of the closed beta so I don’t have to wait any longer, haha.

Keep up the amazing work!
