Hey guys I have been working on this for the better part of a year now…I have learned so much over the course of the entire project and I could never have done it without the incredible Unreal Engine and the community here who provides so much and gives great advice.
I used a lot of assets from the store but took this whole project from concept to completion, which just happened this last week with its debut at the RISE conference in Hong Kong. I can’t post the full final trailer just yet but I wanted to share a few teaser screen shots. We used a full optitrak mocap system with 2 lycra suits to do the motion capture in our studio. I provided the facial motion capture for the guy with the eye patch.
I had to really come up with creative ways in order to get the animations going, things exported, and then finally with perfect timing the 360 pano export tool actually started working in 4.11 and it really made it go from looking pretty good to really awesome (no seams!!!) if I do say so myself. I textured everything in quixel, did the mocap in motion builder, used modo for modeling, and a variety of methods to do the animation in unreal. These are just from the teaser which we hope to use to get funding to set up a small studio and produce a fully fledged web series in VR.
