The day has come! I’m happy to announce that after 1,460 days, my 3D short film The Fortunate Son
is complete! Let the festival season begin
! Here’s the first teaser trailer. Hope you enjoy it!
More is on the way soon. See you on the big screen!
Ladies and Gentlemen! Here is the Official Trailer for my 3D animated shortfilm The Fortunate Son! Due to a lack of budget, I had to produce and finance the entire project on my own. Whenever I think about this, I’m reminded that Kevin Costner and Francis Ford Coppola also had to fund their own films after being rejected by big studios. There’s no magic formula for success. So keep going. Prove that you can create something new, better, and special. Get views, downloads, or awards, and success will follow. Your own success.
I need your help to get this noticed! Please like, share, and comment, I truly appreciate your support, it makes a big difference!

Things have sped up a bit lately. Slowly but surely, I’ve reached the end of the film. Can you believe it? So, I’m proud and excited to inform you that, after several years of development, The Fortunate Son 3D animated short film is finally complete in its entirety. With a runtime of 27 minutes, it even amazes me! To be honest, I never dreamed it would end up being this long! What do you think about it?
Hello again @DanielMagyar !
After following this for a long time, seeing and hearing it is completed feels surreal. I remember finding this project only a few years ago and being blown away! Seeing the official trailer has me a little emotional because knowing the long hours that went into this has paid off. With the new official trailer, I think that this production has more heart than most triple-A movies I see. It has charm, a fun hook, and an engaging storyline, with characters that are bound to be loveable.
I’m proud of all the work that has been put into this and I’m excited to see it when it fully releases. Be sure to take a nice well deserved break after this one as you prepare for your next wonderful endeavor!
Hey again @DanielMagyar,
So nice to get to the finale here. Hope you’re taking a well deserved break after all this work Do you plan on uploading the full film to your YouTube? Would be rad to see it in its entirety
If it’s already uploaded, I apologize, I can’t seem to find it
I recently sat down with the team at Standard Deviation industry veterans, behind the mocap tech in films like Avatar and The Hobbit, to talk about my journey in indie 3D filmmaking. We discussed how I used their FaceCam iPhone HMC head rig to bring my short film The Fortunate Son to life. It was an inspiring and honest conversation about creativity, tools, and storytelling in the world of real-time film.
What’s interesting is that even though they work with such high-profile clients, they were still interested in my journey in indie 3D filmmaking. It turned out to be a great conversation. Hope you enjoy reading it.
